Japan to join in on the SETI fun

If you've ever wondered about the existence of life on other planets--specifically advanced, science-mastering, radio-wave utilizing life--you probably know about the Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI).

This collective has been pointing satellite dishes and scientific instruments at the stars for many years, hoping to stumble across a signal or sign--any sign--of some form of intelligence beyond our own in the cosmos.

Now Japanese researchers have joined the hunt, and will now doubt bring the usual Japanese tenacity, patience, and love of methodology to the pursuit. While I wish them luck in searching the visible and invisible spectrum for hidden laser signals or what not, the prospects for success seem low.

I imagine any intelligence would probably see us coming, and decide at the very least to turn off the lights and hide behind the couch. Based on the level of intelligence we humans have displayed in our time on this planet, wouldn't you?
