The first photo in my point-and-click Japanese Streets series, this elderly Japanese woman often sits near one of the entrances to JR Sapporo Station, silently offering shoe-shines to well heeled passersby. In the many times I've passed I've yet to see her shining anyone's shoes, but still she sits, for hours on end, in the warmer months.
